Test beds in the group:


1) Mid-size Beowulf Cluster: This cluster has 24 compute nodes (dual quad-core configuration, 192 computing CPUs in total). The total accumulated memory is 576 GB. Two designated file servers provide 30 TB of storage.


2) Workstations: Four high-end Lenovo workstations for accessing other computing resources, developing codes, testing small-systems and analyzing simulation results.

Supercomputers at RPI and Oak Ridge National Laboratory for large-scale simulations:


3) The CCNI Computational Facilities ( CCNI houses one of the world most powerful supercomputers, which was a joint investment of $100M by RPI, IBM, and New York State in 2007. The CCNI operates heterogeneous supercomputing systems consisting of massively parallel IBM Blue Gene supercomputers, AMD Opteron processor-based clusters, and several SMP systems. The computational power of the initial hardware configuration is rated at over 100 TeraFLOPS peak. The CCNI system is supported by almost one petabyte of disk storage. Following is the detailed system information:

XT5 Partition
The XT5 partition contains 224,256 compute cores in addition to dedicated login/service nodes. Each compute node contains two hex-core AMD Opteron processors, 16GB memory, and a SeaStar 2+ router.
XT4 Partition
The XT4 partition contains 7,832 compute nodes in addition to dedicated login/service nodes. Each compute node contains a quad-core AMD Opteron 1354 (Budapest) processor running at 2.1 GHz, 8 GB of DDR2-800 memory (some nodes use DDR2-667 memory), and a SeaStar2 router. The resulting partition contains 31,328 processing cores, more than 62 TB of memory, over 600 TB of disk space, and a peak performance of 263 teraflop/s (263 trillion floating point operations per second).
