Came to Hartford, CT 1636 with Hooker, drawing 12 acres of land in the first land division 1639 and 60 acres in the division of land in East Hartford, CT 1666. Volunteered for service in the Pequot War 1637. Name appears on the large shaft in the ancient cemetary, erected in 1837 in memory of the original proprietors of Hartford. A 1640 map of Hartford shows him owning a lot in the northern part of town near part of 'the cow pasture'. He was one of the 60 people who signed an agreement 7 Mar 1645/5 to remove themselves and family to Hadley, MA where he settled on the west side of the Connecticut River. He and his eldest son Edward owned lots in Hadley in 1663 between the north and the middle highway to the meadows. 4 children mentioned in will.
