He is listed in the 1900 census (Missouri > Linn > Baker > District 64) as 61, married 29 yrs, born in Sedwen (as were his parents). He immigrated in 1869.

He is listed in the 1910 census (Missouri > Linn > Baker Twp > District 65) as 71 and living with Wilhelmina, Carl (24) and Marie (22),

Came with a brother, named August, from Sweden in 1869. The brother moved to Red Wing, or Welch, Minnesota (both towns are in Goodhue County). After meeting, and marrying, Wilhelmina in Chicago they moved to a homestead in a Swedish settlement in Missouri (in 1870, right after getting married). He helped found the Swedish Luthern Curch.

Historicaal note: In the 19th century, Småland was a province that was characterized by poverty, and had a substantial emigration to North America. The majority of emigrants ended up in Minnesota, with a geography resembling Sweden, combining arable land with forest and lakes.
