Lucy T. Zhang

 
 

Dr. Lucy Zhang joined the Mechanical, Aerospace & Nuclear Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2006. Prior to this appointment, she was an assistant professor at Tulane University from 2003-2006. Dr. Lucy Zhang received her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Binghamton University, NY in 1998 and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University, IL in 2000 and 2003, respectively.

Our research is to build high performance engineering software tools to predict, analyze and assess biomedical, mechanical, and other engineering systems and physical phenomena through designing, developing and implementing sophisticated numerical algorithms, methods, techniques and strategies. It includes: 

  1. Computational fluid dynamics and solid mechanics

  2. Computational methods for fluid-structure interactions

  3. Computational biomechanics

  4. Molecular dynamics simulations of nanoscale interfaces
