Lucy T. Zhang

Biography :

Dr. Lucy Zhang joined the Mechanical, Aerospace & Nuclear Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2006. Prior to this appointment, she was an assistant professor at Tulane University from 2003-2006. Dr. Lucy Zhang received her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Binghamton University, NY in 1998 and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University, IL in 2000 and 2003, respectively.

Research Interests :

  • Computational mechanics (finite element method, meshfree methods, multiscale methods)

  • Computational methods on fluid-structure interactions (immersed finite element method, Arbitrary Lagragian Eulerian method, etc.)

  • Computational biomechanics (biofluids, numerical studies of cardiovascular diseases)

  • Nanomechanics of interfaces (hydrogen diffusion, liquid on nano-designed surfaces)
