Workshop: Text Logos and Links (Photoshop/ImageReady)

Using Photoshop or Fireworks, create an appropriate and attractive text logo and corresponding links and then create a duplicate set that is identical to the first but with a different-color text, a different-color background, and/or a different layer effect. See the examples below but create a text logo and links suitable for use on one of your own web pages. To avoid losing your work, please note carefully: In Photoshop, save your original Photoshop .psd files *before* you merge down layers and save the files (probably) as .gif files.

Use the Type tool (T) and Palettes to select a suitable type style, size, and color and carefully adjust the kerning (AV) letter by letter if necessary to ensure a neat and professional appearance. Use the cropping tool and the canvas trimming tool (Image --> Canvas Size) to trim your background to the proper size before you change colors, layers, etc. Use the Fill (Edit --> Fill) and Stroke (Edit --> Stroke) functions to change the color or to add a border around any of the layers. Use the Type tool (T) and Palettes (or Alt + Backspace) to change the color of the text. However, check to be sure that you do not change the kerning when you change the color.)
