Masashi Yamaguchi received his Ph.D. in applied physics from Hokkaido University (Sapporo, Japan) in 1991. He then held research and academic positions at the Research Institute for Electronic Science, Hokkaido University, University of California at Riverside and M.I.T. He joined RPI physics department as an assitant professor in August 2004.
