FINAL EXAM
Brendan will answer questions on Thursday May 13th in Amos Eaton 214 from 5-7pm.
The final exam is Friday, May 14th from 3:00 to 6:00 in DCC 318.
-
The format will be similar to the 4 in-class exams. It is recommended that students study these 4 exams first and learn how to work all
of the questions on these.
-
Approximately 75-85% of the questions on the final will be like those on exams 1-4 in this class, with just numbers and maybe some formulas
changed. This includes all types of questions, including essay questions. In case you've misplaced a prior exam, for reference,
the questions of the first 4 exams are linked here Exams 1-4 . There is no need to look at these
if you have your exams to study from. Note that these may differ slightly from the questions on the exam you took due to different versions and drafts.
-
The remaining 15-25% of the exam will have problems like those on the study guides for exams 1-4, or like the other essay questions
discussed in class.
The only formula sheets will be those given on the previous 4 exams.

The project
Worksheet was causing some problems on some machines and has been updated (5/06). Please contact me if you have problems
with the files.
You should look carefully at answers for Part IB, there is something to be "discovered."
MAPLE
-
A Maple file that you should look at for the homework from section 11.11:
-
lec-4-16.mws (On many browsers, right click to download and save, then open in Maple.)
-
The plain text commands in the Maple file You can copy and paste from here into Maple if you prefer.
If you do this, it is recommended that you copy one line, paste it into Maple, press return, look at the result, then copy the next and
press return and so on. After you have done them all, you can modify the commands.
-
A few Maple tips:
-
Commands end with a ;
-
Anything following a # on a line is a comment and not executed.
-
Press "return" on a line to execute a command.
-
Execute all commands on an entire worksheet by pressing the button !!! or clicking on "Edit", follow "execute" to "worksheet".
-
The := is a command that does assignment. The := should not have a space between the : and =.
- You may need * for multiplication and ^ for exponents.
