Homework 3
This homework will not be collected or graded. It is vital that you work these problems, and as many additional questions from the text as possible. Working problems is essential if you are to master the material. Answers to the odd numbered questions can be found in the back of the text.
Quiz 6 will cover sections 7.1 and 7.2 and will be held on March 31 and April 4.
Quiz 7 will cover sections 7.5 and 7.6 and will be held on April 7 and 11.
Quiz 8 will cover sections 9.1, 9.2, and 9.3 and will be held on April 14 and 18.
Quiz 9 will cover sections 9.4, 9.5, 9.6, and 9.7 and will be held on April 21 and 25.
Exam 3 will be in class on Tuesday, May 3. It will include the sections listed above from
Chapters 7 and 9, up to and including section 9.8. It will include one of the questions
listed above. You can bring one sheet of handwritten paper, no larger than 8
× 11
inches; you can write on both sides. No calculators are allowed on the quizzes or in the
exam.
Quiz 10 will cover sections 8.1, 8.2, and 8.3 and will be held on May 5 and 9.
The Final Exam will be held on Friday, May 13 from 3–6pm. It will include everything
covered in the course. The exam will include one of the questions listed above from
Chapter 8. Approximately 20% of the exam will cover material from Chapter 8, and the
remainder should be split approximately equally between the material tested in each of
the three in-class exams. There will be some questions that combine different parts
of the course.You can bring four sheets of handwritten paper, no larger than 8
× 11
inches; you can write on both sides. No calculators are allowed on the quizzes or in the
exams.
