Lab Reports Guidelines for Calculus II (MATH-1020), Sections 1 - 4

Eight labs will be assigned during the term. You can either submit a lab to your TA in class or leave it in his or her mailbox (in Amos Eaton 301) before 5 PM. Note: Amos Eaton 301 closes at 5 PM.

Guidelines for lab reports

  • Each lab report must include a printout of your MAPLE session with your name, section number, TA in a certain format, as explained by your TA.
  • Extraneous portions of your MAPLE session printout must be crossed out with pen or pencil, before handing it in.
  • If required, paper and pencil calculations must be included with your lab report.
  • All plots must be labeled. The labeling includes a title and labels for the axes. You should label by hand important features relevant to any question asked.
  • Be sure to add text comments to your Maple section. Enough about the questions should be included in your comments so that a grader can clearly understand your answers.  Format and complete sentences will count towards your grade on each lab report.

FAILURE TO MEET THESE GUIDELINES WILL RESULT IN LOSS OF POINTS.

Late policy

  • If for some reason you are not able to complete your lab report on time, contact your TA in advance; otherwise 10% per weekday late will be deducted. In case of illness or emergency, contact your TA as soon as possible.
  • Do not leave your lab report for the last minute! Periodic problems with workstations should be expected and will not be considered as valid excuses for lateness.

Collaboration

  • You are not only allowed, but encouraged to work in pairs. If you do so, hand in only one lab report, with both names on it.
  • You are free to consult with Professor Mitchell, your TA, and other students about MAPLE commands needed for the assignments. However, the write-up and computer sessions you hand in must be your own (or your own pairs') work.
