Riddle was a student project that kept me sleeping on the lab floor for weeks while rendering. It was created in 1996 in Wavefront (before the company merged with Alias and well before Maya).
The riddle posed in this animation has two discreet and correct answers - one from a true riddle, one from a word puzzle. When discovered together, they illuminate the meaning behind an otherwise absurd series of images.
The riddle itself, for all its strained language, is as follows:
Temples rise up to hold it.
Secure it lives locked up.
Seeking its oppulent nimbus,
With eyes always reflecting elsewhere,
Brings us the mirror of the haunted self.
