Congratulating Garth for winning 2010 SURP stipend!

Our group member, MSE undergraduate student Garth Scannell’s proposal to the Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) at RPI was accepted for funding, which was out of a very intense competition among 70 received proposals. This will bring him a stipend of $3,500 (with applicable taxes taken out) to fund his 10 weeks of summer research in 2010.

Welcome Dr. Junwei Wang joined the group!

Dr. Junwei Wang obtained his Bachelor’s degree and Ph.D. degree in Chemistry from Tsinghua University, China in 1999 and 2004, respectively. He then moved on to be a postdoctoral research associate in the Chemical and Biomedical Engineering Department at Tulane University from 2005 to 2007. From 2007 to 2009, he worked as a postdoctoral research associate in the Materials Science and Engineering Department at the North Carolina State University.  Dr. Wang won an Excellent Doctoral Dissertation of Tsinghua University in 2004. He is an expert in inorganic synthetic chemistry, has successfully synthesized metallic, oxide & chalcogenide nanocrystals and nanocomposites for magnetic, catalytic and thermoelectric applications. He has more than 15 publications including Journal of the American Chemical Society and Advanced Materials.
