Dr. Bonissone is a Coolidge Fellow and a Chief Scientist at GE Global Research. He is also a Fellow of AAAI, IEEE, and IFSA. He has published over 150 articles in the area of soft computing, computational intelligence, expert systems, approximate reasoning, fuzzy sets, pattern recognition, decision analysis, and prognostics and health management (PHM). He has received 63 patents from the U.S. Patent Office (and 16+ are pending). In 2002, he was President of the IEEE Neural Networks Society (now IEEE Computational Intelligence Society). He was Editor-in-Chief for the International Journal of Approximate reasoning for 13 years, until 2005. In 2008, he received the II Cajastur International Prize for Soft Computing, from the European Centre of Soft Computing. Recently, he was bestowed the 2012 Fuzzy Systems Pioneer Award from the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society.
