microbiology and environmental biotechnology. More specifically:
(1) Identification, and isolation of novel species that catalyze
the dechlorination of PCBs, (2) Identification and characterization of the reductive dehalogenase genes that encode PCB dechlorination (3) Determination of the PCB substrate range of reductive dehalogenases that dechlorinate PCBs (4) Characterization
of novel biotransformation and catabolic pathways for the
detoxication of PCBs (5) Development
of methods for in situ bioremediation of PCBs in aquatic sediments.
